The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Engenheiros da Vila's Eriberto Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Gisbert in the 23rd minute of play. Jorge Sainz hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 28th minute, Geraldo Fernandez made a precise shot to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Gernando Sarmento took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Engenheiros da Vila's Geraldo Fernandez. But to his dismay, Geraldo Fernandez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Adriano Panella managed to get in a good position for a shot. Engenheiros da Vila's supporters rose to their feet, but Adriano Panella was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquin Gayoso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Engenheiros da Vila's zone, Maximiliano Escribano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eriberto Queirós came out of the goal and Maximiliano Escribano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gernando Sarmento in the 47th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Francisco Seco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eriberto Queirós didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Camilo Franco went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-6 was the resulting score. 60 minutes into the match, Francisco Seco notched a goal, 2-6, to the right of Engenheiros da Vila's Eriberto Queirós. Eriberto Queirós was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee felt a red card was in order, 78 minutes into the game, when Sture Vik put in a rough tackle. The referee gave Uruguay a penalty, 80 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jaime Cazalla, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Engenheiros da Vila's Eriberto Queirós. 4-6. In the 86th minute of the match, Geraldo Fernandez got a very nice opportunity to score, but Joaquin Gayoso was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Jaime Cazalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
