A collision led to Albiceleste F.C. getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Jose Ramon Vivanco hit a great ball. Jacobo Nores stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Virgilio Romildo's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Virgilio Romildo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tobias Mino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jaime Pardo in the 23rd minute. After 26 minutes of play, Albiceleste F.C.'s Virgilio Romildo made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jacobo Nores was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marco Artal in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacobo Nores saved Paraguay from getting behind. Albiceleste F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Maximiliano Quilino in the 32nd minute. The corner led Albiceleste F.C.'s Maximiliano Quilino to fire away a dangerous shot which Jacobo Nores despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After having played for 38 minutes, Jaime Pardo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paraguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaime Pardo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Albiceleste F.C. booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hector Covarrubias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Timoteo Nofre hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jaime Pardo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hector Covarrubias during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With a little luck, Paraguay's Jacobo Nores got control of the ball when Virgilio Romildo tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Virgilio Romildo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marco Artal made in the 63rd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Blas Telo however managed to control. After a defensive mix-up in Paraguay's zone, Timoteo Nofre stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal and Timoteo Nofre tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Albiceleste F.C. to win.
