Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Podador Raheiro started the match with the kick off. Julian Murillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marcus Edström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Hüseyin Rahmi Toper got a free kick in the 14th minute. If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Club Deportes Santa Cruz were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after Peru's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Hugo Holflod took the corner. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Hüseyin Rahmi Toper was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Rolando Noboa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Rolando Noboa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Hüseyin Rahmi Toper showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 23 minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Ilkka Markkula reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ilkka Markkula read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. After 43 minutes of play, Peru's Julian Murillo made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ilkka Markkula was left in no man's land by his defense there! The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Club Deportes Santa Cruz made a substitution. Yan Zhi Chuan replaced Podador Raheiro. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Murillo to make the kick off. Ilkka Markkula took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 64th minute of play forced Club Deportes Santa Cruz's goalkeeper Ilkka Markkula to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Ilkka Markkula played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Mina in the 73rd minute of play. In the 75th minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. Julian Murillos short, quick shot in the 79thth minute got Ilkka Markkula to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to Club Deportes Santa Cruz getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Vágner Linares hit a great ball. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Ilkka Markkula played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafael Gallo in the 97th minute of play. Peru were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
