Axel Tasis took the ball and in the 3 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Will Muralhas. Will Muralhas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Ian Cerezo's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ian Cerezo helped the player get up and apologised. After 5 played minutes SE Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Ian Cerezo. Abelardo Medeiros might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abelardo Medeiros ran back to his position shaking his head. 19 minutes into the game, SE Palmeiras's Ian Cerezo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Roberto Andrade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 24th play minute Christiano Baiano came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Benito Sanz. 2-1. Alfredo Vieira hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After 35 minutes of play, SE Palmeiras's Oswaldo Godoi made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Christiano Baiano kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Roberto Andrade during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 40th minute, Roberto Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 44th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efrain Moruga to maneuver through the defense. Benito Sanz was out of position in the 46 minute of play, and Abelardo Medeiros capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Abelardo Medeiros really showed his touch with that goal: 4-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. In the 52nd match minute, SE Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oswaldo Godoi to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Efrain Moruga got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Natanael Paraense hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. In the 57th minute of the match Axel Tasis shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Will Muralhas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when SE Palmeiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Abel Carballo hit a great ball. Will Muralhas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Axel Tasis in the 66th minute of the match. Natanael Paraense's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aaron Alcocer got free with Will Muralhas in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 76 played minutes SE Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Natanael Paraense. Natanael Paraense hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. SE Palmeiras's defense didn't have a chance, in the 84th minute, when Axel Tasis scored to the left of an out of position Will Muralhas, making the score, 4-2. In the 89th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Alcocer to maneuver through the defense. SE Palmeiras's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
