After a rather tough play, Colombia's Joshua Garrido got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Podador Raheiro in the 6th minute of the match. When Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Podador Raheiro in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Colombia's goalie prevented a goal. With 13 minutes on the clock, Samuel Navarro commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 12 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Colombia! The referee gave Club Deportes Santa Cruz a penalty, 15 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Hugo Holflod, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Colombia's Pedro Manzanares. 0-1. Ilkka Markkula made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Montenegro in the 24th minute of play. In the 27th minute, Colombia's Axel Montenegro dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Pedro Manzanares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Podador Raheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 38th minute of the match Club Deportes Santa Cruz got a corner. Colombia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hugo Holflod ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Hugo Holflod to fire away a dangerous shot which Pedro Manzanares despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Marcus Edström struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Pedro Manzanares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Deportes Santa Cruz.

Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Yan Zhi Chuan was substituted for Podador Raheiro. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Trayko Gradinarski was substituted for Zhou Yao Si. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kevin Mastache stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute of the game Trayko Gradinarski made a throw-in which Hüseyin Rahmi Toper played forward. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Yan Zhi Chuan was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 58th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Pedro Manzanares made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Yan Zhi Chuan sent off a good shot on target. Yan Zhi Chuan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pedro Manzanares having to make a save. 69 minutes into the game, Hüseyin Rahmi Toper cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-5. Pedro Manzanares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Yan Zhi Chuan might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Manzanares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Yan Zhi Chuan ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Colombia booed when Club Deportes Santa Cruz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduardo Elia didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yan Zhi Chuan in the 80th minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Manzanares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Yan Zhi Chuan in the 81st minute. The Club Deportes Santa Cruz fans' excitement grew in the 81st match minute when Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Yan Zhi Chuan looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-6 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience was convinced that Yan Zhi Chuan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pedro Manzanares was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. Abram Secada received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Ilkka Markkula tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 96 minutes into the match Yan Zhi Chuan climbed in front of goal and pressed up 2-8 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Pedro Manzanares. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
