The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Atlético San Antonio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robustiano Lanis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marcos Pestaña went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramond Chandeiro in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Axel Tasis to maneuver through the defense. In the 19th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Rubio to maneuver through the defense. After 21 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Alcocer. In the 22nd minute Marcos Pestaña shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 24 minutes into the game, Lautaro Puig recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Vasco Gorvea. Lautaro Puig showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético San Antonio's zone, Axel Tasis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vasco Gorvea came out of the goal and Axel Tasis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vasco Gorvea was a little too slow when Axel Tasis got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 33rd minute. The score was now 2-1. 43 minutes into the match, Atlético San Antonio's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseo Noboa came free, but Vasco Gorvea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Atlético San Antonio's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Eliseo Noboa 43 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-1. Vasco Gorvea was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Eliseo Noboa showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-1 in the 48 minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marcos Pestaña was the one to do the kick off. Vasco Gorvea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Axel Tasis in the 54th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Axel Tasis in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vasco Gorvea saved Atlético San Antonio from getting behind. Axel Tasis made a great header on Costa Rica's corner, it was just that Atlético San Antonio's Vasco Gorvea managed to reach the ball for a save. When Galtero Barrosa fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlético San Antonio's protests and gave Galtero Barrosa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 58th match minute, Atlético San Antonio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Galtero Barrosa to maneuver through the defense. If Gartzea Ungia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 69 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Gartzea Ungia came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lorencio Gobantes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Gartzea Ungia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 78 minutes, Benito Sanz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Vasco Gorvea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Tasis, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. When Marcos Pestaña came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Atlético San Antonio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcos Pestaña couldn't finish the play. A hard shot by Lorencio Gobantes from long distance, 86 minutes into the match, got Benito Sanz's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcos Pestaña, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aaron Alcocer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Atlético San Antonio's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Costa Rica had won, even though Atlético San Antonio had held more of the ball.
