Rene Chale made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After 9 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Ovidio Fix. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Florin Bratu in the 13th minute of play. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rene Chale having to interfere. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rene Chale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Florin Bratu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Rene Chale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of the match. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Rene Chale in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Rene Chale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 27th minute of the match. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ronaldinho Molski was the one to do the kick off. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 57 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rene Chale. Daniel Zorita showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. 61 minutes into the match, Florin Bratu notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Daniel Zorita scored 2-4 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rene Chale, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 70 minutes of play, River Plate's Ronaldinho Molski made it 3-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Rene Chale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 74th minute of the match. 76 minutes into the match, Florin Bratu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Florin Bratu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-4. Ronaldinho Molski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, River Plate's Rene Chale got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when River Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dario Hitzeder didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronaldinho Molski in the 92nd minute of play. In the 95th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ecuador eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
