Luis Nardo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. A very nice done corner allowed Felix Montes to score against Luis Nardo in Florida Gulf Coast's goal. 0-1 after 17 minutes. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lukáš Katačić in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Florida Gulf Coast getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. John James hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lukáš Katačić in the 25th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luis Nardo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 34 minutes into the game, Agustín Saelices cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Luis Nardo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Florida Gulf Coast's Luis Nardo did a great save. In the 40th minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 42 minutes into the game, Lukáš Katačić lined in a short shot 1-2 behind a frustrated Julio Vera. A throw-in in the 46th minute of the game was made by Camilo Gisbert with Cristian Sancho as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 56th minute, Steve Rogers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luis Nardo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 57th minute. Luis Nardo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lukáš Katačić in the 62nd minute of the match. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. Lukáš Katačić fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. If Lukáš Katačić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 67 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Lukáš Katačić came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geronimo Bonadona kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Lukáš Katačić's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Florida Gulf Coast fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
