Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Santiago Meruendano sent off a good shot on target. Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Olle Melander got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Union Y Progreso F.C. getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Venceslas Pumares hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Ali Vedat Çelikyay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. 22 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Venceslas Pumares came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Olle Melander hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Ali Vedat Çelikyay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 26th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ali Vedat Çelikyay in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 29 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ali Vedat Çelikyay made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ali Vedat Çelikyay having to interfere. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Ali Vedat Çelikyay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience was convinced that Zeng Ting Xing's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. In the 52ndth minute of the game Zeng Ting Xing who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. It was a well-played corner which Venceslas Pumares managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Antonio Arias got a free kick in the 55th minute. Agustín Saelices recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zeng Ting Xing might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zeng Ting Xing ran back to his position shaking his head. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 66th minute after Union Y Progreso F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 66th minute of the game. One of Union Y Progreso F.C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ecuador:s goal. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ali Vedat Çelikyay having to make a save. Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Ali Vedat Çelikyay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 72nd minute of play. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 74th minute. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ali Vedat Çelikyay quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Pan Zheng Li got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 84 minutes into the match, Union Y Progreso F.C.'s goalkeeper Ali Vedat Çelikyay had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Santiago Meruendano took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. In the 92nd minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
