In the 26th minute of the match Daniel Zorita sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pablo Maggio skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of ΚΛΚΞRΘS ᴾᴵᴬᴿᴬ booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 89th minute, which Pablo Maggio however easily saved by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Demario in the 91st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Demario in the 96th minute of play. Russ Trusswell's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Russ Trusswell helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to ΚΛΚΞRΘS ᴾᴵᴬᴿᴬ getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Russ Trusswell hit a great ball. Ecuador's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
