Anthony Alvarado lost his temper 23 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 25th minute, the referee gave the xeneise dream team a penalty. Genaro Farias looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Rolando Noboa. Peru were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after the xeneise dream team's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. Milagros Fraga was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Rolando Noboa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Paolo Eutor showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 32 minute of play. Moises Gayoso took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vinicio Aires. Vinicio Aires dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Arda Ardashov's late challenge caught a Peru's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arda Ardashov helped the player get up and apologised. Luz Tejedor shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Henrik Askelöf made in the 62nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Domingos Camerino however managed to control. Vinicio Aires was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. 86 minutes into the game, Eliseo Mina recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Vinicio Aires. Eliseo Mina showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-4. 92 minutes into the game, Antonio Tenorio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-5. Vinicio Aires was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 95 minutes into the game, the xeneise dream team's Paolo Eutor nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rolando Noboa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paolo Eutor in the 97th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Peru supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Peru would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
