The referee ignored Nieciece's protests and gave Andrzej Harbaszewski a yellow card for diving instead. After having played for 21 minutes, Dragomir Breković managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nieciece's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dragomir Breković was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 23rd minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mateusz Hajto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Dragomir Breković's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. Cristian Sancho charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cristian Sancho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 46th minute, Cristian Sancho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Cristian Sancho kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. Dragomir Breković sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 57th minute Dragomir Breković shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Nieciece's Mateusz Hajto got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 78th match minute, Nieciece was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andrzej Harbaszewski to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mateusz Hajto. Mateusz Hajto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dragomir Breković, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
