Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anacleto Rozarius, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. The audience was convinced that Mariano Lacasa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Andrei Cerbu was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. After the first half Chile were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The referee ignored GLADIADORES's protests and gave Sérgio Donato a yellow card for diving instead.
