A collision led to Haiti getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Rodney Emmanuel hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Jonathan Alphonse managed to get in a good position for a shot. Haiti's supporters rose to their feet, but Jonathan Alphonse was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Homero Carrasqueira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sporting Vila Facaia's Homero Carrasqueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Alphonse in the 10th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bento Padilha during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Haiti booed when Sporting Vila Facaia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bento Padilha didn't get a good kick on the ball. The throw-in from Herberto Perdigão in the 26th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Haiti's Rodney Emmanuel. Homero Carrasqueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Alphonse in the 27th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jonathan Alphonse was the one to do the kick off. Haiti's attentive Rodney Emmanuel managed to snatch the ball when José Castelo Branco made a throw-in in the 52nd minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Ernso Constant managed to get in a good position for a shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Ernso Constant kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Homero Carrasqueira. That made the score 0-2 in the 63 minute of play. Homero Carrasqueira came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by Haiti's Ernso Constant. But to his dismay, Ernso Constant quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. A throw-in in the 72nd minute of the game was made by Rui Gago with Artur Jesus as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Jonathan Alphonse got in the 76th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Homero Carrasqueira handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. In the 77th minute, Artur Jesus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Homero Carrasqueira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Alphonse, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Haiti's Jean Claude Ulysse got a free kick in the 86th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Idalécio Araújo in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Noel Seide saved Haiti from getting behind. Ernso Constant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
