Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Joel Gaona started the match with the kick off. Mexico's Joel Gaona got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Walmyr Salles in the 6th minute of the match. 8 minutes into the game, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jailson Teles made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Walmyr Salles might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dante Lacasa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Walmyr Salles ran back to his position shaking his head. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walmyr Salles in the 16th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Jailson Teles in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 27th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. AVAÍ F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. Luca Zorita took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jailson Teles. Jailson Teles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. The audience was convinced that Luca Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jailson Teles was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. Jailson Teles made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. Jailson Teles was out of position in the 39 minute of play, and Lautaro Mancebo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lautaro Mancebo really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walmyr Salles, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walmyr Salles in the 42nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, AVAÍ F.C.'s Teodoro Magalhães got a free kick in the 44th minute. Joel Gaona made a great header on Mexico's corner, it was just that AVAÍ F.C.'s Jailson Teles managed to reach the ball for a save.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Walmyr Salles to strike the kick off in the second half. Mexico's Alberto Tafalla got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 56th minute, Teodoro Magalhães fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 58 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Jailson Teles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lautaro Mancebo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. AVAÍ F.C. made a substitution. Dario Alegría replaced Claus Van De Wiele. AVAÍ F.C.'s Tarcisio Chaves was substituted for Luiz Pombal. When Alberto Tafalla came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Tafalla couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 64th minute of play forced AVAÍ F.C.'s goalkeeper Jailson Teles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wágner Cearense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tarcisio Chaves kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind AVAÍ F.C.'s goalkeeper Jailson Teles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. AVAÍ F.C.'s Jailson Teles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 75th minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Walmyr Salles came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jailson Teles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rubens Cabral took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. In the 86th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Macos Graciani to maneuver through the defense. 91 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Jailson Teles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jailson Teles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. AVAÍ F.C.'s players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
