No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Toro Junior was the one to do the kick off. AE Uruguaianense's Jardel Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 52nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jardel Queiroz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jardel Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 57th minute of play. In the 74th minute, Lautaro Mancebo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Facundo Cadaval fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jardel Queiroz having to interfere. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Toro Junior in the 79th minute. Jardel Queiroz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Mexico's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
