Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Ture Möllgren sent off a good shot on target. In the 20th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Luiz Corrêa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 23rd minute of play. Felix Montenegro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luiz Corrêa having to make a save. Sten Andrejević's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Luiz Corrêa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 33 minutes into the match, Sten Andrejević had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sten Andrejević was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The audience was convinced that Sten Andrejević's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sten Andrejević in the 41st minute of the match. 44 minutes into the game, Sten Andrejević cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Martin Bautista kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. If Sten Andrejević had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Agustín Saelices was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luiz Corrêa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 67 minutes into the game, ROSÁRIO SPORT's Sten Andrejević nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Sten Andrejević scored 4-0 in the 70th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. ROSÁRIO SPORT's Moises Bieito was substituted for Adalberto Xavier. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dean Harvey in the 74th minute of play. In the 76th minute, Bruno Félix hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita tried to score from far away in the 77th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Cristian Sancho scored 4-1 in the 81st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luiz Corrêa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 89 played minutes ROSÁRIO SPORT got a freekick which was hit by Martin Bautista. After 92 played minutes, Ecuador's Luis Andino shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Luiz Corrêa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it.
