An unexpected shot in the 19th minute by Daniel Zorita got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Santos Perez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 22nd minute. In the 28th minute Arden Poulin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Avery Merrill went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Avery Merrill, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Santos Perez made a huge save. After the first half Persepolis F.C. were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arden Poulin in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. When Dominic Delgado came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Persepolis F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dominic Delgado couldn't finish the play. Santos Perez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 55th minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santos Perez having to interfere. Persepolis F.C. made a substitution. Danny Craig replaced Ildefonso Harkaitz. Persepolis F.C. made a substitution. Andy Duff replaced Gwidon Seliga. In the 67th minute, Léopold Castro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 75th minute of the match, Arden Poulin tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Julio Vera saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Luis Andino struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Santos Perez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. After 78 minutes, Daniel Zorita made it 1-4 with a short kick to the right side. Persepolis F.C.'s Santos Perez tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Léopold Castro's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Julio Vera firmly grabbed it by the left post. Through an outstanding action, after 81 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Persepolis F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Arden Poulin in the 83rd minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arden Poulin, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. 85 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Avery Merrill came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 88th minute of play forced Persepolis F.C.'s goalkeeper Santos Perez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Santos Perez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Avery Merrill could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. The Ecuador supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Persepolis F.C.'s performance. The match ended with a win for Persepolis F.C..
