The Chile fans' excitement grew in the 17th match minute when Chile's Mariano Lacasa looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Chile's Mariano Lacasa got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rhys Dimmock showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 27th minute of the match. Chile's Orlando Casaus suffered a sore foot after 28 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Viktor Schukin charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Viktor Schukin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Chile made a substitution. Domingo Mancebo replaced Orlando Casaus. After a rather tough play, Zamalek FC's Viktor Schukin got a free kick in the 29th minute. Domingo Mancebo came free with the goalkeeper in the 31st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Rhys Dimmock could save by the left post. 33 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Fred Kirkpatrick came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Kirkpatrick in the 35th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fred Kirkpatrick in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thiago Pliego prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Zamalek FC's Fred Kirkpatrick in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chile's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mugurel Balaeț in the 43rd minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 45 minutes into the game, when Jose Manzanedo put in a rough tackle. After 45 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Jose Manzanedo. In the 47thth minute of the game Reese Otto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chile's Thiago Pliego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Reese Otto made the kick off in the second half. In the 50th match minute, Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Indiano to maneuver through the defense. Mugurel Balaeț recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 59th minute Tytus Banaszak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rhys Dimmock showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Domingo Mancebo in the 62nd minute of the match. 65 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Tytus Banaszak came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fred Kirkpatrick who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 67thth minute tested the skills of Thiago Pliego when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Thiago Pliego was out of position in the 70 minute of play, and Tytus Banaszak capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Tytus Banaszak really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Rhys Dimmock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Domingo Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tytus Banaszak in the 78th minute of the match. Filip Stăniloaie got a throw-in 85 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Fred Kirkpatrick. Rhys Dimmock made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Domingo Mancebo in the 92nd minute of play. The Zamalek FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Zamalek FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
