The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Walmir Dias was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Walmir Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. In the 7th minute, Luís Fabiano Varela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Toninho da Cunha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Walmir Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walmir Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Walmir Dias came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walmir Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 36th minute of play. Walmir Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Walmir Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leopoldo Capixaba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. The Ȼōŗỉȵᵺỉƛȵʂ Wƛŗŗỉōŗʂ® players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmir Dias having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Daniel Zorita kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Walmir Dias. That made the score 0-5 in the 56 minute of play. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Ȼōŗỉȵᵺỉƛȵʂ Wƛŗŗỉōŗʂ® was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafa Coutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. 68 minutes into the match, Ȼōŗỉȵᵺỉƛȵʂ Wƛŗŗỉōŗʂ®'s goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Walmir Dias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Ȼōŗỉȵᵺỉƛȵʂ Wƛŗŗỉōŗʂ® defense, Luis Andino kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Walmir Dias. The Ȼōŗỉȵᵺỉƛȵʂ Wƛŗŗỉōŗʂ® fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Walmir Dias should have stopped the shot. 73 minutes into the match, Ȼōŗỉȵᵺỉƛȵʂ Wƛŗŗỉōŗʂ®'s goalkeeper Walmir Dias had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ȼōŗỉȵᵺỉƛȵʂ Wƛŗŗỉōŗʂ®'s Walmir Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 79th minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafa Coutinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Walmir Dias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. In the 83rd minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rafa Coutinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Walmir Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. In the 89th minute, Ȼōŗỉȵᵺỉƛȵʂ Wƛŗŗỉōŗʂ®'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 91st minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Walmir Dias. Walmir Dias yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-7. After 94 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-8 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Walmir Dias was left in no man's land by his defense there!
