Gaudencio Pelayo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by La France's Tymoteusz Cetnar. But to his dismay, Tymoteusz Cetnar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. After 20 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Abel Carballo. In the 21st minute of the match Justino Ferrando sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz skillfully saved the ball. After 24th play minutes Gaudencio Pelayo shot 4-1, a short shot which went by Benito Sanz and just under the crossbar into goal. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gaudencio Pelayo in the 26th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gaudencio Pelayo in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. When the match clock showed 27 minutes, the score became 5-1 when Gaudencio Pelayo sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Tymoteusz Cetnar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Juan Rubio got a free kick in the 34th minute. La France's Gaudencio Pelayo got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaudencio Pelayo in the 36th minute of play. 37 minutes into the game, Tymoteusz Cetnar cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-1. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gaudencio Pelayo made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 42ndth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Benito Sanz would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 7-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tymoteusz Cetnar, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. In the 91st minute, Tymoteusz Cetnar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 93 minutes into the game, La France's Gaudencio Pelayo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 14-1. When the referee ended the match the La France players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
