Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mateo Selatse in the 10th minute of the match. Juniors FC's Hernan Torres quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Efrain Moruga, made in the 11th minute of the game. In the 13th minute, Hugo Ferrant hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 15 minutes into the game, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lucas Ixaka made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hernan Torres hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. 26 minutes into the game, Efrain Moruga threw the ball into play from the sideline. Juniors FC's Hernan Torres quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 29th minute, Eliseo Noboa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Juniors FC's attentive Silverio Maju managed to snatch the ball when Hugo Ferrant made a throw-in in the 32nd minute of the game. A sloppy throw-in by Hugo Ferrant in the 35th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Juniors FC's Mathias Roganović. Lautaro Puig scored 0-2 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lucas Ixaka, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lucas Ixaka didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eliseo Noboa went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Juniors FC's Hernan Torres quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Abel Carballo, made in the 45th minute of the game. The supporters of Juniors FC booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo Ferrant didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

In the 53rd minute, Abel Carballo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 57th minute of the game Efrain Moruga made a throw-in which Aaron Alcocer played forward. Axel Tasis's late challenge caught a Juniors FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Axel Tasis helped the player get up and apologised. In the 59th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Axel Tasis to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silverio Maju during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 60 played minutes Juniors FC got a freekick which was hit by Silverio Maju. A sloppy throw-in by Efrain Moruga in the 68th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Juniors FC's Hernan Torres. 69 minutes into the game, Efrain Moruga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Juniors FC the free kick. In the 69th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efrain Moruga to maneuver through the defense. Juan Rubio made in the 73rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Alan Moruga. The throw-in from Efrain Moruga in the 74th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Juniors FC's Hernan Torres. In the 75th minute, Eliseo Noboa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Efrain Moruga made in the 78th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Juniors FC's Hernan Torres. Silverio Maju kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Lucas Ixaka came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig. But to his dismay, Lautaro Puig quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Efrain Moruga made in the 88th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Juniors FC's Federico Kradi. Hugo Ferrant made in the 91st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Lautaro Puig. Chants of Costa Rica echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Juniors FC had held the ball for most of the match.
