The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Jonathan Venegas hit a great ball. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roman Iza having to interfere. Oscar Iyan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Roman Iza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Venezuela's Camilo Gaos quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Albino Lapurdi, made in the 14th minute of the game. In the 17th minute, Rio Gallegos Unidos's Emilio Nuno dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Roman Iza came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Venezuela's Tomas Illescas. But to his dismay, Tomas Illescas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Rio Gallegos Unidos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulino Mancio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32nd match minute, Rio Gallegos Unidos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emilio Nuno to maneuver through the defense. In the 33rd minute, Tomas Illescas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Roman Iza was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 37thth minute, when Rio Gallegos Unidos's Oscar Iyan fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 39th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. Oscar Iyan hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Camilo Gaos got a free kick in the 46th minute. After the first half Venezuela were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Roman Iza made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Roman Iza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Rio Gallegos Unidos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Balendin didn't get a good kick on the ball. A throw-in in the 65th minute of the game was made by Albino Lapurdi with Paulino Mancio as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emilio Nuno went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. When Silvestre Fernandes fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rio Gallegos Unidos's protests and gave Silvestre Fernandes a yellow card for diving instead. Silvestre Fernandes kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Rio Gallegos Unidos's goalkeeper Roman Iza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Iyan in the 77th minute of play. A collision led to Rio Gallegos Unidos getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Albino Lapurdi hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emilio Nuno in the 85th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 87 minutes, Paulino Mancio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rio Gallegos Unidos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulino Mancio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rio Gallegos Unidos made a substitution. Bartolo Abar replaced Oscar Iyan. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bartolo Abar, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. After 94th play minutes Tomas Illescas shot 2-3, a short shot which went by Roman Iza and just under the crossbar into goal. The Rio Gallegos Unidos manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Venezuela to win.
