Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Walmyr Salles kicked off to start the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Cristian Sancho slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jailson Teles. That made the score 1-0 after 2 minutes of play. In the 10th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jailson Teles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luiz Pombal kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Sági in the 22nd minute of play. 28 minutes into the game, Luiz Pombal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AVAÍ F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After 27 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for AVAÍ F.C.! AVAÍ F.C.:s Jailson Teles showed great skill when he stopped Daniel Zorita:s penalty. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jailson Teles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. In the 35th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. A very nice done corner allowed Felix Montenegro to score against Jailson Teles in AVAÍ F.C.'s goal. 2-0 after 36 minutes. 39 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s goalkeeper Jailson Teles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Walmyr Salles's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. Dario Alegría recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Innocenzio Corales hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when AVAÍ F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivory Gunn didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. AVAÍ F.C.'s Dario Alegría got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. AVAÍ F.C.'s Walmyr Salles got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dario Alegría in the 64th minute of play. In the 65th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jailson Teles was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. AVAÍ F.C.'s Tarcisio Chaves was substituted for Luiz Pombal. 70 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Jailson Teles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 71 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s Walmyr Salles sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of AVAÍ F.C. booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. After 86 played minutes AVAÍ F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Innocenzio Corales. Jailson Teles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 87th minute of the match. In the 88th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. AVAÍ F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Felix Montenegro was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. After 90 minutes, Luis Andino mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the AVAÍ F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. AVAÍ F.C.'s Walmyr Salles got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 96 played minutes AVAÍ F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Innocenzio Corales. Ecuador walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
