Guaberto Playo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Eliseo Mina recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Peru's Milagros Fraga quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Edgard Alves, made in the 21st minute of the game. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eleuterio Maraman in the 24th minute. Guaberto Playo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 25th minute of the match. Guaberto Playo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 29th minute of play. The Italia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guaberto Playo should have stopped the shot. After the first half Peru were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

51 minutes into the match, Italia's Tomas Nafarroa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolando Noboa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 55th minute Redas Baliukonis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Guaberto Playo made a huge save. Italia's Lorenzo Loi was substituted for Eleuterio Maraman. Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Edgard Alves made a throw-in in the 65th minute of the game. 72 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Guaberto Playo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 78th minute, Julian Murillo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Guaberto Playo. The goal made the score 0-7. Guaberto Playo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Julian Murillo went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-8 was the resulting score. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. When the final whistle sounded Peru left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Italia.
