Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 4th minute of play forced São Paulo F.C.'s goalkeeper Tiago Godoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 5th minute of the match Venezuela got a corner. São Paulo F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomas Illescas ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Venezuela's corner Jose Correa fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tiago Godoi quite easily take care of the ball. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Tiago Godoi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tiago Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Jonathan Venegas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When São Paulo F.C.'s Ronaldo Crispín in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Venezuela's goalie prevented a goal. In the 28th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiago Godoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by São Paulo F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. In the 30th minute, Joshua Secada hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to São Paulo F.C. getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Yago Leite hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ronaldo Crispín in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 42nd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yaya Sow in the 53rd minute of play. In the 56thth minute of the game Ronaldo Crispín who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Ronaldo Crispín had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. São Paulo F.C.'s Tiago Godoi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save São Paulo F.C. from getting a goal against them. 63 minutes into the match, São Paulo F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Tiago Godoi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 75th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiago Godoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The throw-in from Eugênio Gonçalves in the 83rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert. After 87 minutes of play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tiago Godoi was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Ronaldo Crispín had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see São Paulo F.C. lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
