Hector Covarrubias blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Birkan Yağın having to make a save. When Doğan Zakir fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ÇALIMLI's protests and gave Doğan Zakir a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to ÇALIMLI getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Doğan Zakir hit a great ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 53rd minute of play forced ÇALIMLI's goalkeeper Birkan Yağın to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
