The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Kosteños booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matthew Garrido didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kosteños's Oswaldo Murillo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Kosteños from getting a goal against them. Abraham Alguacil was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 24th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After 30 played minutes Kosteños got a freekick which was hit by Joel Venceslao. Oswaldo Murillo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Berganza in the 34th minute of the match. In the 34th minute, Tomas Berganza made a precise shot to the right of Oswaldo Murillo. Kosteños's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stig-Ove Lundblad, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Berganza to make the kick off. The supporters of Panama booed when Kosteños was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stig-Ove Lundblad didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Panama's Marcos Cotilla got control of the ball when Stig-Ove Lundblad tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abraham Alguacil in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Oswaldo Murillo saved Kosteños from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Isidoro Sarmiento put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Oswaldo Murillo. In the 67th minute, Isidoro Sarmiento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 74 minutes into the match, Kosteños's goal looked a bit too open when Isidoro Sarmiento came free, but Oswaldo Murillo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aaron Barrios kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Oswaldo Murillo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abraham Alguacil, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. In the 81st minute, Alex Cambeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 83rd minute, Stig-Ove Lundblad reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marcos Cotilla. The goal made the score 3-1. Abraham Alguacil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo Murillo having to interfere. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stig-Ove Lundblad in the 90th minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Kosteños's goal looked a bit too open when Isidoro Sarmiento came free, but Oswaldo Murillo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tomas Berganza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo Murillo having to interfere.
