With an all-out effort, Peru's Branislav Velchevski threw himself towards the right post 29 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Julian Murillo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Elpidio Francis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rolando Noboa having to make a save. In the 31st minute Elpidio Francis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Elpidio Francis notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Peru's Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Julian Murillo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 41stth minute tested the skills of Branislav Velchevski when he managed to save the team from getting behind. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA from getting a goal against them. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elpidio Francis in the 46th minute of the match.

Elpidio Francis received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rolando Noboa came out and tried to block the shot, but Elpidio Francis slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 52nd minute. Milagros Fraga struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Branislav Velchevski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's André Monclús was substituted for Elpidio Francis. Eliseo Mina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zacarias Osorio was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 75 minutes into the match. 74 minutes into the game, one of ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luz Tejedor in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Branislav Velchevski saved ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA from getting behind. In the 84th minute Aristides Asteri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. In the 95th minute, Rafael Gallo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Branislav Velchevski came out of the goal in the 98th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Eliseo Mina. But to his dismay, Eliseo Mina quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. The ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
