Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 11th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Freddy Rey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sebastian Verón kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Freddy Rey narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Freddy Rey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 20 minutes into the match, Luis Andino had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Freddy Rey. Universitario Pincharrata's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luis Andino was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Daniel Zorita put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Freddy Rey. 26 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Luis Andino sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Freddy Rey narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 28thth minute of the game Daniel Zorita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Universitario Pincharrata's Freddy Rey was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 29th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Freddy Rey was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. After 32 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Freddy Rey was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Roberto Trotta during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 37 played minutes Universitario Pincharrata got a freekick which was hit by Roberto Trotta. After a defensive mix-up in Universitario Pincharrata's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Freddy Rey came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Universitario Pincharrata players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-6.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Celestino Mattin made a kick off. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Cristian Sancho put it in 0-9 from a short distance just to the right of Freddy Rey. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 65thth minute tested the skills of Freddy Rey when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 67 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-10. Freddy Rey was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Agustín Saelices struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Freddy Rey didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. A collision led to Universitario Pincharrata getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Osvaldo Zubeldia hit a great ball. In the 75th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Freddy Rey. Freddy Rey yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-12. In the 78th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Juan Sebastián Puig kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Freddy Rey. That made the score 0-13 in the 81 minute of play. When the match had gone on for 89 minutes, Felix Montenegro took a quick shot and it went in 0-15 without a chance for Freddy Rey to make any attempt to save it. Freddy Rey came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-16. Ecuador played a much better game than Universitario Pincharrata and deserved their victory. The Universitario Pincharrata players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
