In the 12th minute, Eliseo Mina made a precise shot to the right of Cafu Negri. PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 15 minutes into the game, Lukasz Klucznik threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Eliseo Mina quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 18th minute of the match Peru got a corner. PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. Joaquin Prats was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 22 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Usain Bolt. Alonso Berganza made a great header on Peru's corner, it was just that PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's Cafu Negri managed to reach the ball for a save. Cafu Negri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 26th minute of the match. In the 28th minute of the match, Marcelo Zalayeta tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rolando Noboa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The audience was convinced that Julian Murillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cafu Negri was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Szczepan Bucyki hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Cafu Negri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Agustín Alvarez to make the kick off. After 53 minutes PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. Cafu Negri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. When Julian Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julian Murillo couldn't finish the play. Cafu Negri was left in no man's land by his defense there! Milagros Fraga hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. The Peru players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
