Fernandão Recife fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiaguinho Correia having to interfere. After 10 played minutes Montevideo got a freekick which was hit by Wilson Fernandez. In the 12th minute, Aaron Cortez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 14th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natanael de Godoi to maneuver through the defense. Dagoberto Dracena took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ronaldo Medeiros. Ronaldo Medeiros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Dagoberto Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ronaldo Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dagoberto Dracena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dagoberto Dracena in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ronaldo Medeiros prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Trindade Atlético Club were awarded a corner in the 31th minute after Montevideo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Falcão de Barros took the corner. 33 minutes into the game, Fernandão Recife cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Tiaguinho Correia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Montevideo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Falcão de Barros was slow to take the kick. During this time Trindade Atlético Club's players had a chance to rest. After 40 minutes, Olavo Matorin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Montevideo and the Trindade Atlético Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Montevideo's Olavo Matorin got a free kick in the 40th minute. After 42 played minutes Montevideo got a freekick which was hit by Wilson Fernandez. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Montevideo's goalkeeper Ronaldo Medeiros, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 47 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Aaron Cortez came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Fernandão Recife ran back to his position shaking his head. 80 minutes in the game Luisito Antequera did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Laerte Lucas. Laerte Lucas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Tiaguinho Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Trindade Atlético Club's Róbson Couto got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Trindade Atlético Club players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
