The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rodolfo Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olavo Matorin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wilton Vale might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ronaldo Medeiros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wilton Vale ran back to his position shaking his head. Ronaldo Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilton Vale in the 13th minute of the match. In the 18th minute of the game Wilson Fernandez made a throw-in which Olavo Matorin played forward. Rodolfo Salgado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Laerte Lucas's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. In the 28th minute, Wilton Vale reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ronaldo Medeiros. The goal made the score 1-0. In the 31stth minute of the game Olavo Matorin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but TAQUARI FC's Rodolfo Salgado was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Wilton Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Wilton Vale fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored TAQUARI FC's protests and gave Wilton Vale a yellow card for diving instead. After 35 played minutes TAQUARI FC got a freekick which was hit by Wilton Vale. Wilson Fernandez hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Olavo Matorin made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Laerte Lucas got free with Rodolfo Salgado in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Laerte Lucas struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Rodolfo Salgado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montevideo. With a little luck, TAQUARI FC's Rodolfo Salgado got control of the ball when Olavo Matorin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ronaldo Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Vale in the 66th minute of play. 70 minutes into the match, TAQUARI FC's goal looked a bit too open when Laerte Lucas came free, but Rodolfo Salgado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 73 played minutes Montevideo got a freekick which was hit by Wilson Fernandez. TAQUARI FC's Giannis Karagiotis was substituted for Valer Covaliu. A collision led to Montevideo getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Wilson Fernandez hit a great ball. Ronaldo Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Vale in the 75th minute of play. Rodolfo Salgado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laerte Lucas, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Montevideo's Olavo Matorin was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 83rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. In the 92nd minute, Igor Tinoco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Despite being the better team, Montevideo failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
