The audience thought a goal was coming when Mihail Toader got free with Tristan Bétourne in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 6th minute R.C. Marseille were awarded a corner. Renan Bouzat went to the cornerflag to take it. R.C. Marseille's Renan Bouzat was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tristan Bétourne in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to R.C. Marseille getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Régis Saison hit a great ball. If Edoardo Filippini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 15th match minute, Royal PSG was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Flavien Villemin to maneuver through the defense. R.C. Marseille's Didier Lafargue played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuel Izard in the 19th minute of play. Samuel Izard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Didier Lafargue tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jean-Marc Buisson made in the 26th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Royal PSG's Ferhat Özsan. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edoardo Filippini in the 28th minute of play forced R.C. Marseille's goalkeeper Didier Lafargue to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jean-Marc Buisson made in the 30th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Royal PSG's Théophile Boutillier. In the 40th minute Edoardo Filippini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Didier Lafargue saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Royal PSG's Tristan Bétourne got control of the ball when Renan Bouzat tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of R.C. Marseille booed when Royal PSG was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 49 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel Izard didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The wind increased when Samuel Izard made the kick off in the second half. Didier Lafargue showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edoardo Filippini, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Royal PSG's Ferhat Özsan quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Jean-Marc Buisson, made in the 60th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samuel Jouglet in the 63rd minute of play forced R.C. Marseille's goalkeeper Didier Lafargue to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Royal PSG's Tristan Bétourne played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihail Toader in the 64th minute of play. Tristan Bétourne didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mihail Toader went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. A sloppy throw-in by Joe Plantin in the 70th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Royal PSG's Flavien Villemin. Jean-Marc Buisson got a throw-in 71 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Joe Plantin. Didier Lafargue showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samuel Izard in the 72nd minute of the match. In the 73rd minute, Samuel Izard got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Joe Plantin charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joe Plantin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Samuel Izard recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edoardo Filippini had several of the R.C. Marseille's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 81 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-2 score and a disappointed Didier Lafargue as he didn't even see the shot coming. After 84 played minutes Royal PSG got a freekick which was hit by Samuel Izard. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Samuel Izard in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Didier Lafargue saved R.C. Marseille from getting behind. In the 88thth minute of the game Samuel Izard who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but R.C. Marseille's Didier Lafargue was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Royal PSG's Ferhat Özsan got a free kick in the 94th minute. Cyrille Melon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Royal PSG had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
