In the 9th minute Jaime Pardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Bântu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paraguay's Xavier Zoido quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Nicodim Cornoiu, made in the 11th minute of the game. Mugurel Răduț charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 16 played minutes Fotbal Club Vaslui got a freekick which was hit by Mugurel Răduț. A collision led to Fotbal Club Vaslui getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Mugurel Răduț hit a great ball. Jaime Pardo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Fotbal Club Vaslui was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Potra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hector Covarrubias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fotbal Club Vaslui's Marcel Bântu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hector Covarrubias in the 32nd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Emilian Todoran took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Jacobo Nores to make any attempt to save it. Teodor Oneț came free with the goalkeeper in the 44th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jacobo Nores could save by the left post. Primitivo Escribano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Xavier Zoido got a free kick in the 47th minute. In the 48th minute, Paraguay's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Teodor Oneț fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emilian Todoran, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Hector Covarrubias received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Marcel Bântu came out and tried to block the shot, but Hector Covarrubias slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 58th minute. Marcel Bântu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jaime Pardo in the 65th minute. When the match clock showed 67 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Jaime Pardo sped through Fotbal Club Vaslui's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Marcel Bântu. Fotbal Club Vaslui's Marcel Bântu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Fotbal Club Vaslui from getting a goal against them. Teodor Oneț sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Hector Covarrubias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcel Bântu having to interfere. Jaime Pardo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Marcel Bântu made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hector Covarrubias got free with Marcel Bântu in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle sounded Paraguay left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Fotbal Club Vaslui.
