Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Volio, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. 29 minutes into the match, Agustin Barrantes notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rodrigo Lobo in the 33rd minute. CS La Libertad's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Mainor Coronado in the 51st minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustin Barrantes in the 64th minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Agustin Barrantes came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Ernesto Monge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to CS La Libertad getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Gerardo Millot hit a great ball. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Volio in the 89th minute of the match. 92 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ernesto Monge. CS La Libertad's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because CS La Libertad had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
