Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Novorizontino - DMZ the free kick. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Novorizontino - DMZ getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Kristoffer Dalkvist hit a great ball. Axel Tasis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Martín Silva read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. If Axel Tasis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martín Silva made an important save on a dangerous shot by Axel Tasis in the 39th minute. In the 42nd minute, Hugo Ferrant hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Kristoffer Dalkvist's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kristoffer Dalkvist helped the player get up and apologised. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 61st minute, Juan Rubio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eliseo Noboa might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Martín Silva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eliseo Noboa ran back to his position shaking his head. 73 minutes into the match, Júlio Castro dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benito Sanz, 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 77th minute of play forced Novorizontino - DMZ's goalkeeper Martín Silva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Efrain Moruga made in the 83rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Novorizontino - DMZ's Maurício Brasil. Lautaro Puig hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. If Luís Gustavo da Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 92nd minute Lautaro Puig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martín Silva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
