Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Eliseo Mina came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eliseo Mina couldn't finish the play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Qu Wei Guang stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The corner ended in Luz Tejedor almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Tutti Mammati's Albérico Carmona did a great save. A sloppy throw-in by Viriato Assis in the 74th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Joaquin Prats. If Eliseo Mina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tutti Mammati's Basílio Amaral was substituted for Danilo Amaro. Tutti Mammati's Madaleno Quevedo was substituted for Qu Wei Guang. Albérico Carmona made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Milagros Fraga in the 80th minute of play. Luz Tejedor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albérico Carmona having to interfere. Peru made a substitution. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. Chants of Tutti Mammati echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Peru had held the ball for most of the match.
