Lucas Maciel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luz Tejedor, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Milagros Fraga got free with Lucas Maciel in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The corner led Peru's Luz Tejedor to fire away a dangerous shot which Lucas Maciel despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anísio Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Lucas Maciel made a huge save. Peru's Milagros Fraga pulled a muscle in his back after 24 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The supporters of Peru booed when CLAYMORE COUNTRY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anísio Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 30 minutes into the match, CLAYMORE COUNTRY's goalkeeper Lucas Maciel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julian Murillo. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Washington Arantes in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 36 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lucas Maciel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 37th minute of the match Peru got a corner. CLAYMORE COUNTRY's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Peru made a substitution. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. A throw-in in the 92nd minute of the game was made by Blas Bernal with Anthony Eadie as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 93rd minute, Eliseo Mina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Peru manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing CLAYMORE COUNTRY to win.
