With a little luck, VB-Team's Armindo Salgado got control of the ball when Alberto Tafalla tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the VB-Team defense, Luca Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Armindo Salgado. The VB-Team fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Armindo Salgado should have stopped the shot. 13 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Joaquim de Barros came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim de Barros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Armindo Salgado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. A collision led to VB-Team getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Arthur Guerra hit a great ball. VB-Team's Armindo Salgado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 25th minute of play. In the 30th match minute, VB-Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mattias Jonasson to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to VB-Team getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Enzo Pellecchia hit a great ball. An unexpected shot in the 32nd minute by Lautaro Mancebo got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Armindo Salgado made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 33rd minute. 39 minutes into the match, Joaquim de Barros notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Mexico's Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 44th minute, Facundo Cadaval hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 45th minute, Luís Caeiro made a precise shot to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. The Mexico players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. VB-Team were winning 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joaquim de Barros to make the kick off. Gervásio Severiano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. When Alberto Tafalla came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Tafalla couldn't finish the play. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Armindo Salgado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Armindo Salgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 95th minute of play.
