Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 巩天帆 in the 86th minute of play. In the 89th minute 巩天帆 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but 张旭傲 made a huge save. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but the sword of Damocles were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
