Los Hijos de Doña Beija's Higinio Aguilera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Los Hijos de Doña Beija from getting a goal against them. When Luís Fábio Rocha came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Los Hijos de Doña Beija fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Fábio Rocha couldn't finish the play. Los Hijos de Doña Beija's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Peru's Eliseo Mina to fire away a dangerous shot which Higinio Aguilera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Los Hijos de Doña Beija made a substitution. Indiana Jones replaced Luís Fábio Rocha. After 53 played minutes Los Hijos de Doña Beija got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Cresitobalo. 56 minutes into the match, Los Hijos de Doña Beija's goal looked a bit too open when Milagros Fraga came free, but Higinio Aguilera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Indiana Jones in the 59th minute of play. The supporters of Los Hijos de Doña Beija booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alonso Berganza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Los Hijos de Doña Beija's Jyrki Sillanpää got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Higinio Aguilera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. After some careless play in the Los Hijos de Doña Beija defense, Rafael Gallo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Higinio Aguilera. The Los Hijos de Doña Beija fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Higinio Aguilera should have stopped the shot. Rafael Gallo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Higinio Aguilera having to make a save.
