Marcos Cotilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Davide Di Tommaso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abraham Alguacil was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 43rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Miguel Miralles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Angelo Bertoni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Davide Di Tommaso might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcos Cotilla. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Davide Di Tommaso ran back to his position shaking his head. 47 minutes into the match, Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Davide Di Tommaso. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leonardo Penha made a kick off. The supporters of Panama booed when ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Federico Vani didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 91st minute Davide Di Tommaso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Miguel Miralles hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Luisito Jerano took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 92nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Marcos Cotilla. Panama's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
