Angelo Bertoni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 14th minute of play. Sebastian Villa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Angelo Bertoni read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. In the 17thth minute of the game Daniel Olejarz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Honduras's Lautaro Navarro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Davide Di Tommaso hit a great ball. Angelo Bertoni took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmundo Espiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonardo Penha in the 23rd minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonardo Penha succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 28th playminute. Honduras's Edmundo Espiga got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A sloppy throw-in by Gaetano Scirea in the 47th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Honduras's Luca Espinar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Angelo Bertoni made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Edmundo Espiga sent off a good shot on target. Honduras's attentive Luca Espinar managed to snatch the ball when Gaetano Scirea made a throw-in in the 56th minute of the game. A sloppy throw-in by Gaetano Scirea in the 59th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Honduras's Luca Espinar. A collision led to ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Leonardo Penha hit a great ball. 70 minutes into the match, Honduras's goal looked a bit too open when Davide Di Tommaso came free, but Lautaro Navarro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Federico Vani hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Denis Gergori took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 76th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lautaro Navarro. Honduras's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Leonardo Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 90 minutes into the match, ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ's goalkeeper Angelo Bertoni had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edmundo Espiga. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edmundo Espiga got free with Angelo Bertoni in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Honduras's Lautaro Navarro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Olejarz in the 95th minute of play. Lautaro Navarro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Davide Di Tommaso, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Honduras's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
