Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Matías Donato sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 44 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game Juan Sebastián Puig who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Centenario Bohemio's Andres Tavio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mauro Fontanini scored 2-2 in the 55th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Andres Tavio, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Andres Tavio stood somewhat misplaced when Felix Montenegro came free in front of goal and shot 2-3 to the left of him in the 68 minute. Andres Tavio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
