In the 15th minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gentil Miranda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 21st minute of play forced Pau Nas Canelas's goalkeeper Gentil Miranda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rd minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gentil Miranda was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Palmiro Picasso tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gentil Miranda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 31st minute. Ecuador's Felix Montes was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gentil Miranda in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 32 minutes into the match, Pau Nas Canelas's Palmiro Picasso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 33rd minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Gentil Miranda. Pau Nas Canelas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Gentil Miranda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 36th minute of play. Nunez Sasoin kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. A well-hit corner resulted in Luis Andino heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th minute of the match, Cristian Sancho got a very nice opportunity to score, but Gentil Miranda was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Oséas Moraes charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Oséas Moraes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Pau Nas Canelas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oséas Moraes didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Pau Nas Canelas getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Nunez Sasoin hit a great ball. The supporters of Pau Nas Canelas booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Palmiro Picasso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pau Nas Canelas's supporters rose to their feet, but Palmiro Picasso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luz Palacio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Gentil Miranda made a huge save. When Mário Vilas Boas was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 94 minutes had been played. Mário Vilas Boas hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
