Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felice Maio in the 20th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of Coviolo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Venezuela:s goal. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. The Coviolo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. If Cosmo Nauta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Coviolo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cosmo Nauta didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 60 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Mina. Armando Allegretti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Coviolo's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
