Victorino Bonifaco started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. When Victorino Bonifaco fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Peñaloza's protests and gave Victorino Bonifaco a yellow card for diving instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zarco Figueira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zarco Figueira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Agustín Saelices went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Victorino Bonifaco got free with Julio Vera in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Zarco Figueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 13th minute of play. After some careless play in the Peñaloza defense, Agustín Saelices kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zarco Figueira. The Peñaloza fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zarco Figueira should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 18th minute of play forced Peñaloza's goalkeeper Zarco Figueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zarco Figueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of play. 23 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zarco Figueira. Peñaloza's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Zarco Figueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Zarco Figueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Peñaloza's Zarco Figueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 53rd minute of play. Peñaloza's Zarco Figueira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Peñaloza from getting a goal against them. 60 minutes into the match, Peñaloza's goalkeeper Zarco Figueira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zarco Figueira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 63rd minute of the match. Peñaloza's Zarco Figueira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Peñaloza from getting a goal against them. Peñaloza's Zarco Figueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 73rd minute of play. Zarco Figueira came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Agustín Saelices. But to his dismay, Agustín Saelices quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. 76 minutes into the match, Peñaloza's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Zarco Figueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, Peñaloza's goalkeeper Zarco Figueira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Zarco Figueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonio Arias in the 79th minute of play. Zarco Figueira made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Zarco Figueira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute, Severino Mitxaut hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 84th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zarco Figueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Peñaloza was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anibal Gaitan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 91 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. After having played for 92 minutes, Evelio Dacio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peñaloza's supporters crossed their fingers, but Evelio Dacio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Peñaloza getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Joachim Svensson hit a great ball. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Peñaloza.
