The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Antarctica IF getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Marco Day took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ando Koppelmaa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 15 minutes into the match, USA's goal looked a bit too open when Ando Koppelmaa came free, but Marco Day reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marco Day made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erubiel Claus in the 20th minute of play. Monty Rogers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Flavio Balasi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Maximino Lander in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marco Day prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marco Day made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erubiel Claus in the 32nd minute of play. USA's Marco Day played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ando Koppelmaa in the 37th minute of play. Cassius Byrne could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Flavio Balasi made a huge save. After having played for 41 minutes, Ando Koppelmaa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Antarctica IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ando Koppelmaa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximino Lander in the 43rd minute of play forced USA's goalkeeper Marco Day to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Erubiel Claus had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marco Day. USA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erubiel Claus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cassius Byrne to make the kick off. 50 minutes into the match, Antarctica IF's goal looked a bit too open when Monty Rogers came free, but Flavio Balasi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 57th minute Antarctica IF were awarded a corner. Erubiel Claus went to the cornerflag to take it. Erubiel Claus made a great header on Antarctica IF's corner, it was just that USA's Marco Day managed to reach the ball for a save. When Erubiel Claus came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Antarctica IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erubiel Claus couldn't finish the play. USA made a substitution. Sam Campbell replaced Cassius Byrne. Antarctica IF's Froilan Bingen was substituted for Teofilo Etxahun. Marco Day made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erubiel Claus in the 73rd minute. Marco Day showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximino Lander in the 76th minute of the match. Sam Campbell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Flavio Balasi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 87th minute Khalid Parry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Balasi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sam Campbell in the 93rd minute of play forced Antarctica IF's goalkeeper Flavio Balasi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see USA lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
