The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lartaun Ibar was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Marcelo Linares's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcelo Linares helped the player get up and apologised. In the 76th match minute, C.A.Guimarães was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelo Linares to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute of the match Daniel Zorita sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lartaun Ibar skillfully saved the ball. Lartaun Ibar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 80th minute of the match. C.A.Guimarães were awarded a corner in the 84th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Marcelo Linares took the corner. The corner led C.A.Guimarães's Marcelo Linares to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lartaun Ibar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Peter Unesson kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
